a bit pricier but worth it for us

We pay more here than we would at the local surgery for a standard appointment, but the surgery has a very long wait for anything routine. The doctor was thorough and took time to explain my husband's medication. The actual video call dropped twice though, and we had to ring back to rebook. That was frustrating but the doctor was apologetic about it.

Got a doctor same day

Needed a sick note for work and couldn't get into my own GP. Booked on the app at like 9am and had a call by lunchtime. Doctor was sound and sorted it no bother. Would use again.

good service with one small niggle

I would say this is a very good service, and I was pleased with how I was looked after. The doctor took the time to listen to my concerns about my knee and I felt properly heard. The only thing I found a little fiddly was the sign-up, as it asked for the same details twice and I had to start again. Otherwise I'd happily use them again when I need to.

Booked a phone consult for my back

I booked a phone consultation for my back, which has been playing up since the spring. The booking itself was straightforward and I was given a time within the hour. The doctor called on time, was courteous and sensible, and sent a referral letter through to my GP practice afterwards. I'd not have bothered if I'd had to wait weeks for a routine appointment, so it suited me well.

cheaper than going private

Went private for a scan once and paid three times this. This was a standard consult for a sinus problem and cost a lot less. Booked it on the app in a couple of minutes. Doctor was sensible and sorted me out.

first time using them for a consult

Booked my first ever online consult for a rash on my arm. Picked the earliest slot which was that evening and the doctor came on spot on time. Got a cream prescribed and it was waiting at my usual chemist the next morning. Didn't expect it to be that smooth on a first go.

needed a referral for physio

I needed a referral for physiotherapy after my knee went and waiting for the NHS route felt like months. Compared a few options online and this one seemed the most straightforward. The doctor was quick to pick up the problem and sent the referral the same day. Nothing complicated about it.

Pretty good but the app is clunky

The best bit was that I got an appointment for the same day when my own GP was booked up for two weeks. The doctor was nice and listened properly to my anxiety stuff, which I really appreciated. The app is a bit clunky though, it kept logging me out when I tried to upload a photo of the rash. Took me a few tries to get it going. Prescription was fine.

tried a couple before settling on this

Looked at two other online doctor services before picking this one, mainly because the other two only did video and I wanted a phone call option. The one I went with had shorter waiting times and a clearer price up front. I got a call back in about twenty minutes. Would pick it again.

needed a repeat prescription fast

I needed a repeat prescription for my blood pressure tablets and had run out over the weekend. Requested it on the site and the doctor reviewed it fairly quickly. It was approved but the pharmacy took a day longer than they said to get it ready. Still, I didn't have to phone anyone, which was the main thing.

still a good service after all these years

I've been using them for about three years now and they're still my first port of call when I'm unwell. Easy to book, and the doctors have always been courteous. Once the referral took a few days to come through, which was a bit annoying, but the team kept me informed by text. Price is reasonable for what you get. I'd keep using them.

booked a video consult from my phone

Booked a video consultation for my son's ear infection on the app while waiting for the bus. Took about two minutes to sign up and pick a slot. The doctor called right on time and sent the prescription to our local chemist straight after. Brilliant for a school night. Only thing is you need to be somewhere quiet to take the call.

A sensible way to get seen quickly

It's a sensible service for anyone who needs to be seen quickly and doesn't want to wait weeks for a routine slot. I used it for a prescription query and the doctor was thorough and polite. The consultation was done by video and the connection held up well throughout. I'd use them again without a second thought if I was in the same position.

Lower price than the others I checked

Checked three other online GP services and this one came out cheaper for a standard consultation. The booking screens were easier to follow than the rest too. Doctor was on time, had a proper look at the problem and kept it brief. Got the script sent to my chemist within the hour.

Compared with my usual surgery

Put this side by side with my usual surgery, where it's three weeks for a routine appointment. Here I got a slot within two days and the video call was clear. The price was higher than a standard NHS visit though, and the payment page was a bit fiddly to get through. The consultation itself was fine.

Needed a GP quick after a bad week

Was having a really rough week with a chest infection and needed to see someone before the weekend. Called the number first but then booked through the site so I could pick a time that suited me around work. The doctor was calm and checked everything properly, and didn't rush me at all. Antibiotics were at the chemist by lunchtime the next day. I was properly grateful for how quick it was when I was feeling so rubbish.

Just what I needed

Knowing the NHS route well from years of managing my wife's care, I was after something quick and this did the job. The doctor asked the right questions and didn't waste time on things that weren't relevant. Got a fit note and a prescription without any hanging about.

knew what to expect and got it

I've used telehealth services before so I knew what to look for. The thing that stood out here was the follow up, the doctor messaged me the next day to check the medication was working. Consultation was focused and no unnecessary tests were pushed. Prescription arrived at the pharmacy within the hour. Clear process and no fuss.

Better than the walk in centre

Compared it with the walk in centre and a private clinic before picking this. The private clinic was twice the price and the walk in had a three hour wait. Here I got a call back within the hour and it was a fair bit cheaper than going private. The consultation itself was thorough enough for what I needed. No complaints.

About ZoomDoc

ZoomDoc is a UK online service that connects patients with doctors for video consultations, allowing people to speak to a clinician from their own home. Consultations are carried out through a web browser or the company's app, and patients can book appointments for general health concerns, prescriptions and minor conditions. The service is aimed at adults who want quick access to medical advice without travelling to a surgery or waiting for an in-person appointment.

Patients pay for each consultation directly, and the service does not form part of the NHS, so it sits alongside existing GP care rather than replacing it. Reviews on this page reflect customers' experiences of booking, consultation quality and follow-up care.
