Booked it for my birthday

Needed something fun for my little brother's birthday so got a group session booked. Really easy to pick the time slot and pay. The keeper was so nice with the kids. Loved it, will be back!

better value than the other one

Compared with the other big attraction we looked at, this worked out much cheaper for two adults and two children once you add up the tickets. Booking took a few minutes and the QR codes worked first time at the gate. We used the family deal and got a free return on the same day. Good value and easy, which is all we wanted.

Needed something for a school trip

We needed a venue that could take a coach of year fours on a weekday, and this was the one that offered a proper group rate. I compared a couple of others first but the group booking form here was the easiest. Only small thing was the confirmation email took a day to arrive, which made me nervous. Everything else went smoothly on the day.

booking is fine but the walk is long

Booking the tickets is simple enough and the confirmation email came straight away. The wider grounds are big and the map on the app helped us plan. I know a few places in the area that are closer to the station, so the walk from the bus stop felt longer than it should. Good day otherwise.

Needed a day out with the nephews

Needed something to keep the nephews busy during half term and this fitted the bill. Looked at a couple of other places before picking this, mainly on the reviews and the price for families. Booking was quick and the ticket was valid straight away. Staff were helpful with directions. Good shout.

The otters were the best bit

The otters were the best bit of the whole visit, they were right up at the glass. Booked it on my phone in the car. Easy. Tickets came straight through.

booked the penguin feeding

Booked the penguin feeding session on the site for me and my sister, it was the lot. The keeper was dead friendly and let us get close to the glass. Quick to sort on my phone too.

Better than the other one

Way better than the other place we looked at for a Saturday, that one wanted nearly double for the same tickets. Booked on the site in about two minutes on my phone, but the walk round the far paths is long so bring trainers and not the new ones.

not what the pictures showed

Sadly the day did not quite match the photos on the site, with several enclosures being empty or under work when we arrived. I know animals do not always cooperate but there was no notice on the booking page about the works. The tickets themselves were fine. Refund was a bit of a palaver to sort out by email.

Fine for a day but not special

Honestly the zoo is fine if you want a few hours with the animals and a bit of fresh air. The booking page is clear enough. The sessions we booked for the keeper talk were sold as going ahead but the talk was shorter than advertised, and nobody explained why. Good enough, but I would expect a bit more for the money.

our membership renewed without bother

We have bought the family membership for many years and it renews each spring with no bother at all. The card arrives in the post within a week and the email reminders are timely. The staff at the entrance always remember us. It is a regular treat.

The one I'd pick again

Of the zoos we looked at for the weekend this was the one I would pick again. The booking was simple and the ticket arrived by email within a minute. Staff were friendly at the gate and the paths were easy with a pram. A lovely day out.

our annual pass every year

We bought the annual membership for the zoo about six years ago now and renew it every spring without fuss. Renewal reminders come by post and by email, and the entry is quick at the gate with our card. The staff have always been helpful when we visit with the grandchildren. It is our favourite day out in London and we would not be without it.

Needed a cheap day out

Needed a cheap day out with my mates on a budget and this was the one. Booked on the app while queuing for the bus. Tickets showed up straight away and the staff were lovely. Would go again.

The night safari tour was well run

We booked the evening tour and the guide who took us round the lower paths was knowledgeable about the nocturnal species, which made the tour. The booking through the site was quick and the reminder email arrived on time. The only niggle was that the meeting point is a fair walk from the main car park. Otherwise a very good evening.

cheaper than the other zoo

Compared with the other zoo south of the river, this is a good bit cheaper for a family ticket once you book online. We got the combined entry and a free return within the year. Booking was straightforward and the tickets worked at the gate with no fuss.

Cheaper than the london aquarium

Compared with the aquarium over on the south bank we looked at first, this was a fair bit less for a family of four once you add the car park. We went for a Saturday in April and the queue for the tickets moved quickly. The walk round the paths is long though and my knees were not happy by the end, so bring something to sit on.

been a member for years

I have had the membership for a good while now and it renews each year without me having to think about it, which suits me fine. This last spring the card did not scan at the gate and I stood there for ten minutes while they sorted it. The staff were patient about it. Still, the same old penguins are a treat.

The lemurs were lovely

The lemur enclosure was the highlight of our visit, and the keeper stopped to talk to us about the ring tailed ones for a good ten minutes which I did not expect. The rest of the grounds were a little quieter than I had hoped and the cafe queue was rather long at lunchtime, but we did have a pleasant afternoon, and I would be happy to go back in the spring.

The group session for my niece

Booked a group session for my niece's eighth birthday and the staff handled twelve kids without any fuss. The tables were sorted and the keeper did a proper talk with the owls. Ten out of ten from the kids, and the mums were chuffed too.
