fab day out, would go again

Loved it, best day out I've had in ages. Booking was dead easy on the site and the train was on time. Got a seat by the window and the guide was really funny.

booked for my wife's birthday

I booked a rail day out for my wife's birthday and it was the right choice. Her main concern was the walking involved, and the company were good enough to outline the stops in advance. The guide was knowledgeable and the staff were courteous throughout. We enjoyed a relaxed and memorable day.

our usual autumn rail trip

We've been booking their autumn steam trip for about six years now. Same friendly crew every time, and the route is lovely through the Dales. Booking is quick and the reminder emails arrive when they should.

compared a few before picking

We looked at three or four other day trips before choosing this one, mainly for the price and the length of the route. The detail that stood out was how clearly the timings were laid out on the site. The day itself was pleasant, though we'd have liked a bit more time at the final stop.

Better than the last one we tried

We tried a different rail tour company a couple of years ago and this one is a step up. The booking page is clearer and the boarding was better organised. The only niggle was the wait for the toilets on the train.

needed a day out for the family

We needed something the whole family could do over the summer holidays without me planning every step. We compared a few options and this was the easiest to book. The trip itself was good, though the lunch was pricier than we expected.

Booked the lake district rail day

We booked the Lake District rail day trip through the site for my mum's birthday, and it was our first time using them. The booking itself was fine but the confirmation email took nearly two days to arrive, which had me worried. The day ran smoothly once we were on the train, though the guide was a bit hard to hear at the back of the carriage.

Better than booking the trains ourselves

We looked at a couple of other rail tour companies before picking this one and it came out ahead. Booking the whole thing in one go saved us a lot of fiddling with separate tickets and connections. The guide knew the route well, the stops were well timed, and we got back on schedule. We'll use them again for our next trip north.

Same as every year

We've been doing the Cotswolds rail day with them for about nine years now and it's always been well run. This year the timetable had changed slightly so the stop for lunch was shorter than before, which was a bit of a shame as the group wanted longer in the village. The crew sorted out the reshuffle on the day and everyone got fed. Still the one we pick when the family gets together.

Really good day out

Honestly, this was a really good day out and I'd book it again. Easy to sign up for on the site and the train was spot on. Nothing went wrong from start to finish.

needed something cheap for the kids

We needed something cheap to do with the kids over half term and this was one of the few options that fit. We looked at a few others before booking. The train was a bit crowded and the children got restless toward the end.

Not what i expected from a rail tour

Having travelled on a good number of heritage and rail excursions over the years, I found this one below standard. The schedule on the site did not match what happened on the day, and the carriage heating was not working on the return leg. The guide was pleasant enough but the whole thing felt rushed and a bit overpriced for what was offered.

Booked the autumn steam trip

I booked their autumn steam trip for my husband's birthday and it was lovely. The reply to my booking query did take a couple of days though, which I thought was a little slow.

A very pleasant day out

What struck me most was how clearly the timings were set out when I booked the Settle to Carlisle trip for my sister and myself. The confirmation arrived promptly and I found the details on the site easy to follow, which I did appreciate given my eyesight is not what it was. The staff on the day were courteous and the carriage was comfortable and clean. We didn't need anything else and I'd be glad to travel with them again.

Way better than the usual pub crawl

Went on this instead of our usual pub crawl and it was miles better. The train ride was actually fun and we didn't have to worry about getting home. Booked it on my phone in like five minutes. Would do it again with the lads.

good value for the money

Great value for what you get, and this is the one I'd pick again. We paid less than a comparable trip we looked at and the day included lunch and a guided commentary. Booking was straightforward and the train ran to time.

The rail excursion booking

I booked the rail excursion for a group of six and the process was efficient. The one small matter was that the group discount was not applied automatically, and it took a couple of emails to sort out. Once on board the staff were attentive and the scenery was splendid.

Better than the coach trips

We used to go on coach tours but switched to these rail trips a few years back and haven't looked back. The coaches always felt rushed, whereas here we have time to sit and look out the window. Booking is simple and the staff on board are helpful. We're already planning the next one.

The trip was alright

Booked it cos my mates wanted to do something different. Trip was alright but the train was packed and we couldn't get a seat together. Would've been nicer if they'd said that in the booking, honestly.
