Checked a few sites before booking

Checked a few sites before booking a hotel in Nottingham and this one had the best price for the dates I wanted. The price filter is easy to use and the map helps you see the location. Booking was quick and I got a clear confirmation email. Would use it again for a city stay.

Best place to compare prices

Best place to compare prices for a stay, and I've tried most of the big ones. Looked at about six sites for a hotel in Cardiff and this came out ahead on the total price. Filters are easy to use and the reviews show plenty of detail. Booking was quick and the confirmation came through right away. Would definitely use it again for a weekend away.

Hotel didn't match the pictures

Compared it with booking direct and the direct price was actually lower this time, which annoyed me. Used the site for a last minute night in Leeds and the hotel was not quite as pictured, the room was smaller than I expected. Customer support took three days to reply when I asked about it.

needed somewhere quiet for my sister's wedding

I needed a hotel near the venue in Bath for my sister's wedding, as we had a large group coming from out of town. I'm not one for websites but this was straightforward to use and I found a comfortable place within my budget. The reviews listed were helpful when making my choice. Everything went smoothly and I'd happily use it again.

booked a hotel near the seafront

Booked a hotel in Scarborough through the site, as I've been using it for years for our seaside trips. The seafront location was exactly what we wanted and the price was sensible. Booking took a few minutes and everything was where I expected. Happy with it.

compared three sites before choosing

Needed a hotel in Cambridge for a short course, so I compared three sites before choosing. This one had a good range and the reviews were detailed enough to help. Booking was clear and the confirmation arrived quickly. Happy enough with the stay.

good for finding cheap stays

Brilliant for finding a cheap place to stay, and I'd use it again. Compared prices for a weekend in Brighton and it showed me a few options I'd never have found on my own. The map view is handy for seeing what's near the beach. Booking itself was quick and I got the confirmation straight away. Easy to use on the phone and the price comparison does the hard work for you.

booked a hotel in Edinburgh

Needed a hotel in Edinburgh for a conference and this was the cheapest option I could find for the dates. The booking itself took a couple of minutes. My one gripe is that the hotel's own site showed a slightly different room type to what I booked, so I had to check with the hotel directly. It sorted out fine in the end.

comparing it to the big search engines

Compared it to the other big search engines for a hotel in Oxford and the results were broadly similar. I know the travel search side well so I'd say it's a solid all-rounder. The filters could be a bit more precise on amenities. Booking went through without trouble.

Found a cheap place in Newcastle

The first thing I noticed was how many places came up under forty quid a night for my dates in Newcastle. Booked one of the cheaper hotels on the list and got a confirmation straight away. Didn't have to make an account which was nice. Got there, room was small but clean, and the check in was no bother. Would use it again for a quick trip, it's mint for finding cheap stays.

Comparison beats going direct

Compared it with going direct to the hotel and it beat the direct price by a fair bit for a stay in Bristol. I know the hotel booking market well and this site pulls in plenty of sources, so you get a proper spread. Booking was quick and clear. Good for a bargain.

Needed a cheap place for a festival

I needed somewhere cheap to stay for a festival in Reading, as everything nearby was going for silly money. Found a budget hotel on here and it did the job. The app asked me to sign in twice which was a bit of a faff. Otherwise it was fine and I got the room I wanted.

Hotel in Brighton for the weekend

The map view is what got me, you can see every hotel near the beach with the price on top. Booked a place in Brighton for a weekend with my mates and it was sorted in like five minutes. Room was a bit small but the location was spot on, walked to everything. Would use it again, easy.

Decent price but the room was fiddly to sort

Looked at a few sites for a hotel in York and this one had the lowest price for the dates. Booking itself was quick enough. The bit that slowed me down was trying to change the room type afterwards, the button kept disappearing on my phone so I ended up ringing the hotel. Not a big deal but worth knowing. Stay was fine.

Sorted my hotel in Manchester

Found a hotel in Manchester for a gig weekend and it was really quick to book. The only thing was the price went up a bit when I got to the payment page, but it was still ok. Room was fine.

Great for last minute weekend stays

Great for finding a last minute weekend stay, you can sort by price and it shows you the total quickly. Found a room in Liverpool the night before and booked it from my phone on the train. Confirmation came straight away and the hotel was exactly what I'd picked out. Really easy.

Booking was fine but the total jumped

Booking was fine but the total jumped at the last step once the fees got added, which was a bit annoying. Found a place in Brighton that looked good on the map. The room was small but clean. I'd probably check the final price on the actual hotel site before paying.

Been using it for years

Been using the site for years now for hotel stays across the UK and mostly it's good. Needed a place in Glasgow for a conference and I found it through the search quickly enough. The one problem this time was the rate showed differently from what I was charged at checkout, so I had to query it. It was sorted in the end but took a bit of back and forth.

About trivago

trivago is a hotel search engine that compares accommodation prices from many booking sites and travel providers on a single results page. The platform lets travellers filter hotels by price, location, rating and amenities, and it links users through to the chosen booking site to complete their reservation. trivago is based in Düsseldorf and operates as a meta-search service, so it does not take bookings or handle payments itself.

Its customers are primarily leisure and business travellers who want to compare options before choosing where to stay, and the site is available in many languages and countries. The company is part of the Expedia Group and offers its service through a website and mobile apps, with features such as price alerts and saved searches.
