Sorted in a few minutes

Booked a cottage for a last minute trip, needed somewhere by Friday. Did it on the train on my phone in five minutes, confirmation came straight away. Cottage was on the edge of a village near Whitby, clean and quiet. Nothing to complain about.

A Lake District cottage

I booked a cottage in Grasmere for a long weekend with my sister. The booking process was clear and the confirmation arrived promptly. The property was immaculate and the surroundings are quite lovely, we were very content indeed. I'd happily return.

First holiday booked with them

Booked my first ever stay through them, a cottage on the Isle of Wight for a week in May. The welcome pack with local maps was the bit I hadn't expected and it really helped us plan. Booking was clear and the cottage was comfortable, with a garden the dog loved.

Better than the usual holiday sites

Compared it to booking through a big travel site and this was much simpler, the property details were clearer and there were no extra fees popping up at checkout. Stayed in a converted barn near Cornwall and it was exactly as described. Quick reply from the team when I had a question about parking. Easy.

First time booking with them

We needed somewhere to stay near Dorset for my mum's 80th and a mate said to try the National Trust holiday cottages. Booking was straightforward, the cottage was spot on and the owners left us a welcome basket with local cheese and cider. Felt like we'd been looked after from start to finish. Would go back.

Compared a few before picking

Had a look at a few different options before picking the National Trust cottage in Shropshire for a girls weekend. Booking the dates was easy and the photos matched what we got.

Best option for a family cottage

Honestly the best option I found for a family holiday with two kids and a dog. The cottage sleeps six and the listing was accurate, down to the cot and the high chair. The team answered a question about the dog within a day. Very happy with it and the booking was painless.

Good value for a big group

The cottage near Harrogate had a hot tub that I didn't expect to matter but it did. We'd looked at three other sites first and the price per head worked out better than the rest once you added the cleaning fee. Booking was easy and the pre-arrival info was clear.

The cottage location sold it

Looked at a few places in the Lake District before settling on this one. What tipped it was how close the cottage was to the lake path, you could walk out the back door and be on the shore in five minutes. Booking was easy and the place was clean and comfortable. Really pleased with it, lovely week.

Better than a hotel

Compared with a hotel near Ludlow, this cottage gave us far more room and a proper kitchen to cook in. The booking was straightforward and the owners were courteous. Everything was in order when we arrived and the garden was lovely to sit in. Would stay again.

great little cottage

Honestly this one is great, booked it for a weekend away with my mates in the Yorkshire Dales. Easy to book on the app and the place was cosy with a wood burner. Loads of walks just outside the door. Would go again.

cheaper than the hotel down the road

Went with this over a hotel in Bath because it worked out a fair bit less for the same two nights. Cottage had everything we needed and the parking was easy. Price was the main reason, but the place was good too. Sound value.

A stay in the Peak District

I booked a farmhouse near Bakewell as a birthday treat for my husband. The arrangements were handled with care and the confirmation was sent to my email without delay. The house itself is delightful, with a fine view over the valley and a warm welcome from our host. We shall be sure to return.

Cottages are the thing to book

Cottages are the thing to book with them, the properties are looked after properly and the booking calendar shows exactly what's free. We've stayed in four of their places now and every one had the basics done right, clean beds, a working kitchen and a clear check-in note waiting. The owners answered my pre-stay questions within a day.

been booking with them for years

Been using them for years and nothing has changed for the better. Booking is simple, they answer the phone when you ring, and the properties are kept up to a good standard. This year's cottage in Devon was as good as the last three we stayed in. Happy customer.

About National Trust Holidays

National Trust Holidays is the holiday arm of the National Trust, the charity that cares for historic houses, gardens, coastline and countryside across England, Wales and Northern Ireland. It offers self-catering cottages, farmhouses, lighthouses, castle stays and other properties in places owned or cared for by the Trust, many of them in rural and coastal settings. Bookings are made through the National Trust Holidays website, and each property is presented with details of its location, facilities and the historic or natural setting around it.

The holidays are aimed at visitors who want to stay close to the places the Trust protects, including families, couples and walkers, and guests can combine a stay with visits to nearby National Trust sites. Income from bookings supports the conservation work of the charity, which is a central part of how the business is described on its website.
