A bit of a wait for the deposit

Needed a cottage in the Cotswolds for a family reunion and this was the first place I looked at. Compared a few others and the prices were about the same. The deposit took a while to show as paid on my account, which made me nervous for a day. Cottage itself was nice and roomy.

booked a cottage for a weekend

Needed somewhere to crash for a friend's wedding in Yorkshire and this was the first thing that came up. Booking was fine but the payment page was a bit fiddly on my phone and I had to try twice. Cottage was lovely though, cosy and right by the moors.

The grounds were the highlight

The grounds around the Herefordshire property were the thing I remember most, the walled garden is very fine indeed. The booking was handled without fuss, though the reply to my query about the lift took a couple of days. The cottage was comfortable and well kept. A pleasant break all round.

Pricier but worth it

Compared to a usual holiday let site this was a bit dearer, but the cottage in Dorset was spotless and the owner sorted a late key handover without fuss. Took a few days to get a reply to my first question though. Would still book again.

About National Trust Holidays

National Trust Holidays is the holiday arm of the National Trust, the charity that cares for historic houses, gardens, coastline and countryside across England, Wales and Northern Ireland. It offers self-catering cottages, farmhouses, lighthouses, castle stays and other properties in places owned or cared for by the Trust, many of them in rural and coastal settings. Bookings are made through the National Trust Holidays website, and each property is presented with details of its location, facilities and the historic or natural setting around it.

The holidays are aimed at visitors who want to stay close to the places the Trust protects, including families, couples and walkers, and guests can combine a stay with visits to nearby National Trust sites. Income from bookings supports the conservation work of the charity, which is a central part of how the business is described on its website.
