Bought a full birth certificate copy from them last spring and it came through the post in about a week, which was quicker than I expected. Been using them on and off for years now for bits of family history research and the search tool still works nicely, though the site can be a bit clunky when you're looking through older records.
Read moreSigned up for a trial to look into my great grandad's war record and it all looked promising at first. The sign up process was fine but the trial only let me view a couple of pages before asking for payment. Archives is best known as a family history and genealogy resource, giving users access to searchable collections of historical records. Its services centre on helping people trace their ancestry through census returns, birth, marriage and death records, and other archival material. The business operates online, so customers search and view records from their own homes rather than visiting physical premises.
Its customers are mostly individuals researching their family trees, along with hobbyist genealogists who want to explore historical documents in detail. Subscriptions and pay-per-view access are the main ways the service is used, and users can save and organise what they find within their account.
