does the job but slow

Bought it to turn a few scanned forms into editable documents. It works, though it's slower than I expected on a big batch. Took a while to get the activation code sorted out.

The desktop app for invoices

I bought the desktop app to turn a stack of supplier invoices into text the accounts package could read. It handles the standard layouts well, though one or two of the handwritten amounts still need checking by hand. Installation was easy and it's been reliable for months now. A bit of tidying is still needed, but it saves an afternoon each month.

The handwriting recognition is spot on

What stood out most was how it handled my nan's handwritten recipe cards, which I was sure would come out as nonsense. Compared a few options first, and most of them gave up on the cursive. This one got nearly every word right, and the odd miss was easy to fix. Signing up took about two minutes and the free trial let me test it properly before paying anything.

Bought the desktop version

Bought the desktop version last week for uni, mostly for scanning lecture handouts. Installed fine on my laptop and it's quick. Used it three times already and it's been solid so far.

fine for the bits I needed

I bought the standard OCR package to digitise some old family letters. The software does what it says for the most part, though it struggled with the faded ink on a few pages and I had to go over them by hand. Customer support took a few days to reply to my question about the licence, which was a bit slow. On balance it's acceptable for what I needed.

needed it for a scanned contract

We had a scanned contract from the solicitor that wouldn't copy properly, so I looked at a few OCR tools before settling on this one. Tried two others first and they both mangled the tables. This one picked up the layout straight away and the text came out clean enough to edit without much fuss.

been using it for years

What stood out most was how the OCR has improved over the years I've been using it for work. Started with an older version and the newer one reads faint faxes much better. Renewing was simple and the account stayed where I left it. Still my go to for scanning client paperwork.

Got the job done eventually

We needed to digitise a set of old club minutes so the committee could search them. The file kept timing out on the bigger scans and the support reply took nearly a week to come back. Once I split the scans into smaller batches it worked fine. Took longer than I'd hoped.

quick and does the job

Would buy again. Signed up on the site in about two minutes and the download came straight through. Had a forty page scan to convert for a placement and it came out readable, took a bit longer than I hoped on the big file but still fine.

Needed it for uni essays

Needed it because my lecturer only accepted typed notes from a scanned textbook chapter and I was not typing 40 pages by hand. Took about ten minutes to get it going on the laptop, the text came out pretty clean apart from a few odd symbols. Does the job, would use it again for coursework.

Cheaper than the subscription lot

Compared it to the subscription tools my sister uses and this was about half the cost over a year. Does what I need for scanning bills and letters, nothing more.

Better than the free tools

I'd already tried the free converters that come with my scanner and they kept dropping the formatting on my reports. This is a step up and the text recognition is noticeably better, though the price is more than I'd like to pay each year. The download and install were straightforward and the updates arrived without me having to chase anything.

Download took forever

The first thing I noticed was the download link kept timing out, and it took most of an afternoon to get the installer. Once it was on, the scanning worked fine but the price felt steep for what I actually use it for.

worth every penny for the money

Good value for what it does, which is the main reason I bought it. I'm converting old client reports and it gets through a hundred pages without dropping the tables. The licence covers two machines in the office, which is a nice bonus. Would buy it again without a second thought.

still using the same licence

I bought the desktop version back in 2015 to turn our paper ledgers into spreadsheets for the business, and I have upgraded it twice since. Each time the install has been quick and the old settings carried over without much fuss. The recognition on the newer releases is noticeably better with tables, which saves me a lot of tidying up. Wouldn't want to go back to doing it manually.

Needed to convert invoices

We needed to convert a backlog of supplier invoices into something the accounts system could read. Signing up was easy enough. The subscription price is a bit higher than I'd like for a small business, but it did the job and the batch conversion saved us a fair bit of typing.

Much better than the old scanner software

I'd been using the software that came with my old printer and it kept mangling the columns on our monthly reports. This one keeps the layout almost exactly as it was, which is what I needed. I've been doing it this way for a few years now and it's rarely let me down. Renewal was straightforward too.

great for turning pdfs into word

Honestly one of the better purchases I've made this year, and I'm not someone who usually bothers writing reviews. I used it to turn a stack of old bank statements into spreadsheets for my tax return and it saved me hours. Signing up was quick on my phone and the app synced with the desktop without me having to do anything. Only wish the free version had a higher page limit.

Not as cheap as the free ones

Honestly the free converter I'd been using online was cheaper, but it couldn't hold the formatting on our family history documents. This one gets the fonts and spacing right almost every time, so it was worth paying for. The price is a bit steep for occasional use though. I've been using it on and off for a couple of years now.
