I did look at a professional CV writer first, and the fee was more than I wanted to spend on something I was unsure about. This was far more manageable and I could work through it at my own pace over a few evenings. The finished document looked smart and I was grateful for the clear prompts.

Export took a bit longer than I thought and the first download had the wrong font so i had to go back and pick the template again. Price was fine for what you get. Cover letter tool is handy too, I used it on the way home from my shift.
Read moreGot my CV sorted the night before a second interview because the old one was a mess. The thing that stood out was that the template I picked kept my dates and job titles lined up without me fiddling with the margins. Sent it straight off the phone, which I was doing from the car park, and the PDF attached without any problem.

Honestly it does the job well and I had a finished CV within the hour. The price felt a bit steep for a one-off when I only needed it for a single job search, and I'd have liked a cheaper option for a shorter download. Still, the result looked professional.
It's a good tool and the templates look sharp. The download took a couple of tries on my laptop before the PDF would open, which was irritating when I was up against a deadline. Apart from that it's been useful for my applications.

io is an online service that helps job seekers build CVs and cover letters using a browser-based editor and a selection of professionally designed templates. Users can start from a template, fill in sections for work experience, education, skills and languages, and export the finished document as a PDF. The platform is aimed at individuals preparing applications for employment across a range of sectors and career stages.
The company also offers guidance on wording, layout and what to include, which sits alongside the document builder within the same site. It operates primarily as a subscription-based digital product, so users access the tools through a web browser rather than through a physical shop.
