My back has been bad for years and I can now sleep right through the night without waking up stiff. The mattress is firm but not hard and it takes the pressure off my hips. I've had it about eight months now and it still looks like new. Ordering was straightforward and the site told me exactly what I was getting.

The bit that let it down this time was the delivery window, they said a day and it turned up a whole week later with no text to say why. Got through to customer service eventually and they were polite but it still meant me sleeping on the old bed for longer than I wanted.
Read moreI would say this is a good mattress for the money, and I have found it sleeps well for my bad back. The cover comes off simply and goes straight in the washing machine, which I was glad of. I was given a clear explanation of the returns process by a helpful assistant when I had a question about trying it at home, and that gave me real confidence in my decision.

The mattress arrived very squashed in its packaging, so it took a good while to puff back up to shape. The firmness is about right for me, and I have been sleeping well on it since. The delivery was late by about four days and nobody got in touch to explain, which was frustrating.

Emma Mattress is a British online retailer of mattresses, bed bases, pillows and bedroom accessories, selling directly to customers across the United Kingdom. The brand is known for its foam and hybrid mattresses, which are designed in-house and shipped compressed in a box so they can be delivered to a home and left to expand. Its range is aimed at people who prefer to buy a mattress without visiting a showroom and who want a clear returns process if a bed does not suit them.
Customers buy through the company's website, where the range is organised by mattress type, firmness and size, and orders are handled from a single online account. Emma Mattress also offers a trial period on its mattresses, which allows buyers to test a bed at home before deciding whether to keep it.
