Needed a quick reference

I needed a quick reference for changing the oil in our old estate car, and the step by step guide was exactly what I wanted. The torque figures are clearly listed and the photos match the bolts I actually had. I've been using the same guide for months now and it's never let me down.

Pretty decent so far

Pretty decent so far, the first few guides I've read have been useful and easy to follow. Haven't needed to contact support yet. Would like the search to be quicker but that's about it.

The sign up was a pain

Signed up for the study pack and the sign up took about three goes because the code never arrived. Then the first download failed and I had to ask support. They replied the next day and sorted it, but it was annoying when I wanted to start straight away.

The honest answer

Honestly, it's the most useful home energy resource I've found. The tariff comparisons are current and the explanations for the different meter types are spot on. Have recommended it to three neighbours already.

The mobile layout is fiddly

The step by step guides are good but the mobile layout is a bit fiddly, I kept zooming in to read the small print on the torque settings and it took longer than it should have. Once I switched to my laptop it was fine. Would have been nice to have a print button that actually works on the phone version, but that's a small thing and I'd still use them again for the bathroom and the kitchen jobs.

Way better than youtube

Compared to just watching random youtube videos this is so much more organised. Everything's in order and you know what you're getting. Took me ages to find the right section for my laptop fan though.

Needed help with my first car

I needed help with my first car because the garage quote was ridiculous and I had no idea what half the warning lights meant. A friend sent me the site and I started with the basic guide. It explained everything in plain English, and I'd never have worked out the timing belt thing without it.

Needed guidance on my pension

I needed some guidance on how my pension was being drawn down, as the letters from the provider were rather confusing. I signed up for the planning courses and found them clear and sensibly paced. The payment process took a few days to clear, which I did find a little slow, but the support team were patient when I phoned to ask questions.

still the one I trust

Still the one I trust for anything to do with the garden and the greenhouse. I've been a member since the early days and the content has only got better. Renewal was straightforward and the reminder emails are polite.

Still worth every penny

Five years in and it's still the first place I look when something goes wrong with the house. The guides are kept up to date and the forum answers come quickly. Never had a problem getting back in.

The seasonal calendar

The seasonal planting calendar is the detail I value most, and it's been spot on for our allotment. I've been a subscriber for years and the timings never seem to drift. Easy to print and pin on the shed wall.

the diagrams are the best bit

The wiring diagrams are what made me sign up, and they really are as clear as everyone says. I've used them for two small electrical jobs now. The search is a bit clunky though, so I often end up scrolling through the index instead of finding things directly.

Ordered the tutoring bundle

Ordered the GCSE maths tutoring bundle for my son in February and I've been impressed with how the lessons are structured. The explanations are clear and the practice questions match what he's actually getting in class. Only niggle is that the video library takes a moment to load on our older laptop.

The bathroom extractor fan

I bought the bathroom extractor fan guide after comparing three other sites, and this one had the clearest wiring instructions. The diagram matched my fan exactly, which saved me a lot of guesswork. Everything I needed was on one page.

Better than the forums

Compared to the forums I used before, this is far better organised and the answers actually match the manufacturer's manuals. I've used it for a dishwasher repair and a broken garage door opener. The price is fair for what you get, and everything I needed was in one place.

way quicker than my old method

Compared with ringing my dad every time something breaks, this is way quicker. Found the answer for my washing machine error code in about two minutes on my phone. Works well on the app too, which was a bonus because I'm always on the move and it loads fast even on a bad signal.

Cheaper than the alternatives

Compared to paying a tradesman call out fee, this is a far cheaper way to get a job done properly. I bought one guide for a leaking shower and it paid for itself straight away. Nothing extra to pay for each time you open it.

Needed it for uni

Needed something to help me sort out my flat's broken heating before the landlord came round, and this was the first thing that came up. The guide was clear and I got the thermostat working. The membership renewal page was a bit confusing, but I got there in the end.

the printable checklists

I bought the printable home maintenance checklists and they're genuinely handy for our annual boiler service. Each one fits on a single page. The layout is a little small for my eyes, but I just zoom in on the PDF.
