Avanti Coffee

Needed a replacement bag of the espresso blend because the old one ran out before I'd planned. Signing up for the regular delivery took a few minutes and was straightforward enough. The bag itself is good, but it works out a fair bit more per cup than the supermarket one I normally get, and the delivery charge makes it worse if you only order a single bag. Coffee is fine, just not the bargain I was after.

Got the Colombian single origin as a gift for my brother who is a bit of a coffee nerd. The bag lists the altitude and the processing method, which is what I was after. Brewed it as a V60 and the sweetness came through without any sourness. He took the rest home with him.

Bought the decaf bag for my mum because she can't have caffeine after dinner anymore. It's proper tasty, not like the watery decaf from the shops. Arrived in two days, quick and easy. Mum says it's the best she's had in ages so that's a win.

Honestly the coffee is great, really smooth and not bitter at all. Ordered the house blend and it arrived fine. Postage was more than I expected for a small bag though, so I'd check the total before you pay. Would still get it again.

Compared with the single origin I usually buy from a small roaster in Bristol, this one is a touch brighter and cleaner in the cup. The Kenyan filter shows the fruit nicely. Good stuff.

The tasting notes printed on the bag were the first thing I noticed, they actually pick out things you can taste like stone fruit and caramel. Made a pour over with the Ethiopian and it was bright and a bit floral, nothing like the burnt stuff I'd been buying from the shop. Delivery was next day and the bag was sealed well. Would order again, might try the decaf next.

I would say it is a very good supplier of coffee beans, and I have been ordering from them for about two years now. The beans arrive fresh and well packed, and the flavour notes on each bag are accurate. My only small complaint is that the delivery window is rather broad, so I sometimes wait a day or two longer than I was expecting.

Compared it with the big supermarket own brand and a couple of other roasters, and this was the clear winner for me. The espresso blend has a proper depth without tasting burnt, and the grind options are actually useful. Ordering was quick and the bag arrived sealed and fresh. Will be sticking with it for the foreseeable.
