Velocity Outdoor

Honestly I've been buying from them for close on fifteen years and they've never let me down. Last month I got a replacement gas stove burner and it arrived in two days with the right fittings. Prices have crept up a bit but the range is still wide and the staff on the phone are patient when you're not sure what you need. Good people to deal with and I'll keep coming back.

Honestly really happy with this one. I was after a cheap camping chair for a weekend at a campsite and this did the job fine. Checkout was quick, it came in two days and it's already been used twice, so yeah, would order again.

Compared it with a couple of well known camping brands before buying and this was around half the price for a comparable set of cookware. The pans are light and the handles stay cool, which I didn't expect at the money. Ordering was simple, checkout worked first time, and the box arrived with everything in it. Honest value for a family who camp a lot.

Needed a dry bag for a kayaking day and didn't want to pay much. Compared a few options and this one was the cheapest without looking flimsy. It does the job, though the roll top is a bit fiddly to close.

Needed proper waterproof boots in a hurry for a festival trip and this was the only place that had them in stock for next day. Ordered on my phone in the queue for the bus and they turned up the next morning, no fuss at all.

Ordered a fleece for my husband and it was a size too small. The returns process was not the easiest, I had to print a form and wait for an email before I could post it back. It's sorted now, but it was a bit of a palaver.

Bought a tin of .177 pellets after looking at a couple of other outdoor shops first, mainly to see who had them cheapest. The price here was a few quid under the rest and they arrived in about three days. Only niggle is the tin was a bit dented on one corner but the pellets inside were fine and the sizing is spot on for my air rifle.

We needed something basic for the kids' camping trip with the school and couldn't justify spending much. Got a two man tent that was well under what the big names charge, and it's gone up without fuss twice already. The poles feel a bit thin but for the price it does the job and I'd happily buy from them again for the next trip.

I needed a roof rack for a short trip and didn't want to spend a fortune on it. The price was good and the rack looked well made when it arrived. It did take me a while to work out the fittings, the instructions were vague on which bolt went where, and I had to email customer service twice before anyone replied. The reply came after three days which felt a bit slow for a simple question.

The stitching on the shoulder straps is double run, which you rarely see at this price. Mine has carried a loaded pack up a few Munro routes now without fraying. Knows his stuff about gear.

Looked at the same camping stove from a couple of big outdoor brands before ordering and this was roughly two thirds of the price. It lights first time and the flame is steady. Ordering was quick, checkout had no problems, and the parcel was here inside the week. Value is clearly good here.

Compared it against the same sleeping bag in a well known camping chain and this was noticeably cheaper with a similar tog rating. Arrived quickly and the zip works smoothly, which is more than I can say for the last one I bought. Good value and no regrets, will keep them in mind for my next bit of kit.

Compared this with the one I had from a big high street store and this is noticeably lighter with a better strap. Ordered it on my phone during a break and it came the next day. Happy with it so far.

I was particularly struck by how well the flask was packed, with the lid wrapped separately so nothing could rattle loose. It has kept tea hot through a full day on the hills. The delivery was prompt, though the confirmation email arrived a little after the parcel did. A sound purchase on the whole.

I bought a walking pole from them a few seasons back and still use it most weekends. The grip is fine though it's a shade heavier than the picture made it look. Reasonable enough.

The first thing I noticed was how bright and cluttered the homepage was, which made it harder to find what I wanted. Then the checkout kept timing out on my phone and I had to start my basket again. Eventually it went through and the item came, but it's a bit of a faff for a first order.

The tracking updates were spot on, I could see exactly when the parcel was out for delivery. Ordered a tent for a festival weekend and it got here the day before I needed it, which was lucky but still cool.

I'd looked at a few options for the kids' wetsuits, including the big sports chains, before settling on the ones from here. The kids' size chart was clear and the fit has been spot on for both of them. Zips are a bit stiff at first but they loosen up after a few wears.

Ordered a pair of walking boots on my phone at lunch and they arrived in a couple of days. The fit is good but the laces are shorter than I expected, so I've had to swap them. Otherwise pleased.

Worth it, it's a decent bit of kit for what I paid. I've been ordering from them on and off for years and rarely have a problem. Delivery was a day later than they said last time but nothing I'd complain about.
