Idealo is a price comparison platform founded in Germany that lists products from a broad network of online retailers and marketplaces, allowing shoppers to compare prices and offers for the same item in one place. The site covers categories including electronics, fashion, home and garden, sports equipment and household goods, and visitors can filter results by price, availability and merchant rating. Idealo does not sell products itself, instead directing visitors to the retailer's own website to complete a purchase, and it earns its income from merchants who pay for referred traffic.
The UK site offers price alerts that notify users when a product they are watching falls in price. Users can also read reviews of retailers and products, which helps them judge a seller before following a link through to checkout.

Used it for a new washing machine
I bought a washing machine through the site after comparing a few listings. The price alert came through when it dropped, which was handy. The seller I picked shipped it within two days and it arrived in one piece with the install instructions in the box. Pretty painless from start to finish.

The seller page was confusing
The seller page that came up first confused me the most. It was hard to tell which deliveries were included in the price and which were extra. I had to go through three screens before finding out the postage cost. The item itself arrived fine but it took longer than I'd like to sort out.

nicer than going on Amazon
Compared with checking Amazon myself, this was way quicker for finding a laptop bag because it pulls up the listings from loads of shops at once. The bit that bugged me was that one of the sellers I clicked through to wanted me to sign up before I could see the final price, which was annoying. Once I got past that the delivery came when they said and the price was fine. Might still check the shop…
Read morequick and easy, one small thing
Quick and easy to use on my phone, found a drill for a good price. The seller's delivery was a day later than the listing said, which was a bit annoying. Otherwise no real complaints.
Needed a cheap laptop for uni
I needed a cheap laptop for uni so I searched here and sorted by price. Found one for a lot less than the shops and the filter for specs made it easy to check. A few sellers wanted more for delivery than I expected, so I had to pick carefully. Got it in the end and it's been fine.
ordered a coffee machine
Ordered a coffee machine after comparing a few listings. The seller I chose had it out for delivery the next morning, which was great. The box had a small dent on one corner but the machine itself was fine.

bought a pair of speakers
I bought a pair of bookshelf speakers through the site after comparing a few sellers. The listing photos looked a bit better than the real thing, nothing major, but the colour was a touch different. They arrived two days after the estimate and were well packed. Works fine and sounds good for the money.
